What is the hero's journey? How does knowledge of the hero's journey help to more deeply understand character? The hero's journey is an archetypal storyline used over the course of centuries. The hero's journey helps us to better understand characters in literature and their response to challenges.
Writers, it's time to discuss one of my favorite storytelling topics: plot structure. Today, in particular, we're going to break down a structure originally outlined by mythologist Joseph Campbell in his book The Hero With a Thousand Faces The Hero's Journey is a classic.
