House on a New Hampshire Lake
This two story cape overlooks a small lake in southern New Hampshire. The frame is Douglas fir that was harvested from standing dead trees on federal land in Oregon.
Timbers from standing dead trees have a very low moisture content, and are more stable than timbers cut from living trees. We have been using standing dead Douglas fir for several years. It is an excellent substitute for red oak, which is getting harder to find locally in high quality grades.Return to Portfolio
